What aftercare do you recommend for clothing?
All Aigle outdoor performance products are manufactured from premium quality fabrics and components which require the appropriate care and maintenance to continue to function efficiently.
This section tells you how to get the best out of your Aigle products time after time:
Washing Aigle MTD and GORE-TEX® garments
We recommend that all our GORE-TEX® garments are hand/machine washed at no more than 40°C. Aigle MTD should be hand washed at no more than 30°C. Use pure liquid soap only, do not use any fabric softeners or biological washing powders.
The garments may be tumble dried at a low heat setting, but must be removed from the drum immediately when the machine stops.
Washing instructions can be found in the side seam of the garment and should always be adhered to. Our garments are not suitable for dry cleaning.
The GORE-TEX® fabric and Aigle MTD outer layers in all cases are treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish which causes water droplets to bead and run off the garment. Over time, the outer treatment deteriorates but can be rejuvenated by either tumble drying at a low heat setting or ironing on the outer face on a cool setting.
In some cases the DWR treatment may have completely worn away. From the products available in the market place we have found, from our own in-house lab tests, that Granger?s Extreme Cleaner Plus, Extreme Synthetics or XT Spray gave good results in water repellency without affecting breathability too much. Fleece

We advise all our customers to follow the Aigle
washing instructions as any other labels only

What aftercare do you recommend for footwear?
Cleaning boots: dirt is best removed when dry and brushed off. Use a damp cloth/sponge using clear water only to remove more stubborn dirt.
Drying: never dry boots in a direct or indirect heat source, including strong sunlight. If boots are very wet then use newspaper pushed inside to speed up the drying process and keep the inside shape of the boot. Let boots dry naturally.
Applying wax: apply wax to seams of new leather boots. Most leathers, when new, have a smooth factory finish and will not accept treatment until it is scuffed or shows signs of wear and begins to wet out. Be careful to treat the fabric or leather with the correct product recommended by your retailer.
Dangers of over-treatment: one treatment should last several outings depending on the type of walking and terrain. Over-treatment can make the leather very soft and thus more vulnerable to abrasion and scratching. It can also compromise any adhesive areas such as the rubber rand and sole bonding. Boots that are over-treated cannot be re-soled as the leather becomes too soft and waxy to be bonded successfully to the new sole.
Nubuck leather: use a brush to restore the nap but avoid hard brushing as this may give a shabby look. Treat with Nubuck Conditioner available from most retailers.
Suede leather: suede leather can be treated the same as normal leather, but will always look greasy and darker after treatment. To retain the appearance, use a suede brush and then apply a suitable spray treatment.
Fabric boots: Fabric boots are generally not waterproof unless they have a waterproof breathable lining. Their performance can be enhanced by ensuring the outer fabric is water repellent. The outer fabrics and leathers can be treated to repel water in both lined and unlined versions. This treatment may reduce breathability, depending on the product used, and possibly darken the colours. Your retailer will advise you on a suitable product.
How do I take care of my rubber boots?
Rubber boots should be washed after every use with clean water and stored upright in a clean dry place, away sources of direct heat including direct sunlight.
Boots should be sprayed regularly with Aigle SWIPOL in order to protect and preserve the suppleness of the rubber.
Boot linings should be washed with clean water only. The use of soap is not recommended.
